I've battled addiction since the age of 13. I have been writing this song, "Help Someone," over the last few years, during my several attempts at getting sober. Of course, I wanted nothing to do with it during relapses. This time, I finished the song.
The people who I have seen have the most success in recovery are the ones who "help someone." By helping others, we help ourselves—because it feels good! So this song is written to help me in my recovery and maybe it might help someone else too? Use it or share it however you wish, if you feel it's appropriate. God bless.
Music & Lyrics by Jeremy
Little by little / Piece by piece
You can put yourself together / On your knees
Step by step / One day at a time
Keep on keeping on / Leave the past behind
Yesterday’s gone / Tomorrow may never come
Don’t be afraid and
Help someone
Little by little / Piece by piece
You will find the strength / To get back on your feet
Step by step / One day at a time
Live and let live / Have a little faith
Don’t be blind
Yesterday’s gone / Tomorrow may never come
Believe in anything and
Help someone
Some things you can not change
No matter what you do
If you’re looking for someone to blame
Don’t forget about you
When it feels like you can’t stay
But there’s nowhere left to run
And nowhere left to hide
You’re not the only one
Little by little / Piece by piece
Give a little hope / To everyone you meet
Step by step / One day at a time
You can let go and untangle your mind
Yesterday’s gone / Tomorrow may never come
Be true to yourself and
Help someone
About the composer
Jeremy
I love to play guitar and write songs. Songwriting is a way for me to put my perspectives down on paper at any time, and combine them with music. As the years have passed, the songs I have written act as markers in the timeline of my life. I try to write lyrics that are universal, can be interpreted in more ways than one and timeless.
